Check out some great Midwest-related stories I found online this past month:
Where Little House on the Prairie Comes to Life at the Ingalls Homestead-Deb takes readers of her Just Short of Crazy blog along for a covered wagon ride as she experiences the classic story of Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House books come to life in South Dakota.
History and Eats at Cleveland's West Side Market-If you're a dedicated foodie, then Cleveland's West Side Market is a must-visit for you! I love this year-round farmers market with its local vendors and super selection of produce, meat, baked goods and other specialty foods. Follow Amanda as she takes a takes a two-hour tasting tour of the market (I'm getting hungry just thinking about that!). Check it out at the Discovering Ohio blog.

Kokomo Automotive Museum Classics-We love visiting classic car museums when we travel in the Midwest. Kayleen's article about her visit to see some cool rides in Kokomo, Indiana put this museum on my Midwest bucket list. Check it out at the Indiana Insider blog.
Mummies of the World: The Exhibition at the Cincinnati Museum Center-I remember heading down to a museum in Toledo for a lecture about mummies that drew 500-plus people on a weeknight! Anything having to do with ancient Egypt and mummies seems to hold a special fascination for folks, and this great exhibit at the Cincinnati Museum Center in Ohio seems certain to be especially interesting. Check it out with Nedra on her Adventure Mom blog.
A Modern landmark finds a new use-Visiting Columbus, Indiana has long been on my Midwest bucket list to visit. Check out this chapter in the continuing story of the city's growth as a "mecca of modern architecture" where Richard tells how the community saved this great Eero Saarinen-designed building at Indiana Landmark's Hidden Gems blog. (Saarinen's father Eliel also designed the Cranbrook Institute of Science here in metro Detroit.)
Eight Attraction We Hope Never Close at Cedar Point-Justin and his family love Cedar Point, visiting the park multiple times. Check out this list of his family's favorite attractions at the Ohio amusement park, ranging from thrill rides to exploring quieter corners of the park. Find the article at the InACents blog.

Three Fun & Quirky Roadside Attractions in Hocking Hills-I normally think of hiking and photography when I think of the scenic Hocking Hills area in southern Ohio, but Tonya shares a few really fun stops among the scenery. Check out this story at The Traveling Praters blog where Tonya takes readers to an unusual spherically-shaped house, a factory front displaying the World's Largest Washboard and, my favorite, a tiny museum dedicated to showcasing pencil sharpeners.
Exploring Old Man's Cave During the 50th Annual Hocking Hills Winter Hike-Join Deb and over 5300 other intrepid hikers as they explore Old Man's Cave in Ohio's Hocking Hills. We've visited here during the summer months, when it's fairly easy to pack a tripod in and take time getting some great images of the cave, but we've always thought it looked like fun to take a winter hike in here as well. Check it out at the TrekOhio blog.
Take a Wintery Walk-On Top of the Snow! Snowshoe Experiences and Trails in West Michigan-How about taking your winter hike on snowshoes? Check out Howard's report about several western Michigan trails that make for great snowshoeing experiences. Read about it at My Experience Grand Rapids blog.
Oliver Mansion, South Bend Indiana: Glimpse a Family's Lavish 1930s Lifestyle-We missed seeing this home when we visited South Bend as we spent much of the day seeing the Studebaker Museum and the Northern Indiana Center for History. Fortunately, Connie toured this gorgeous home and filed this report at her Midwest Wanderer blog so I got at least a small glimpse of what I should make sure I go see the next time I'm in South Bend.
Nebraska Folk Art: The Oconto Sculpture Garden-Join Muriel as she takes readers of the Nebraska Outback blog to this quirky little roadside sculpture garden along Highway 40. I love folk art gardens like this where talented artisans share their skill with a menagerie of animals created from scrap metal. This reminds me a bit of the art of Stuart Padnos that we enjoy seeing in western Michigan.

23 Michigan Communities with more Famous Counterparts-Athens? Berlin? Holland? Paris? Traveling the world? Nope...these are all names of small towns in Michigan, the only place I know of where it's easy to go to Hell and back in a single day! Check out Julie's list of small towns in Michigan named for more famous destinations at A Healthier Michigan blog.
