Some folks expressed surprise when I posted an image of this river on my Instagram feed earlier this summer after learning that it pictured a scene in Grand Rapids, Ohio.
Grand Rapids is an historic canal town about a half-hour drive southwest of Toledo on the southern shore of the Maumee River. I captured this image along the Towpath Trail running behind a row of businesses on the town's main street that included The Mill House Bed and Breakfast, our home for a couple of wonderfully relaxing days earlier this summer.
It comes as no surprise to me to learn that the State of Ohio designated the Maumee River as a State Scenic River.
What do you think?
Be sure to check out my story about our visit to Grand Rapids, Ohio at the Ohio Tourism Division's Discovering Ohio blog and look for more stories about this trip here at Midwest Guest later this summer!
