Birding is really big in northwest Ohio.
Birding is so big in the state that an estimated 80,000 birders from around the world started to flock to Ohio's northern shore for the Biggest Week in Birding this week.
The "week" is also pretty big. It's actually an annual 10-day festival celebrating the height of the spring migration at wildlife refuges, parks and other spots along the Lake Erie shore on Ohio's northern border. This area is a favorite rest and re-fueling spot for warblers, shore birds and other feathered travelers on their way north for the summer.
Check out my latest story at the Ohio Tourism Division's Discovering Ohio blog, Birders migrate to Lake Erie for the Biggest Week in American Birding, for more details about this festival running now through May 15.
