I discovered a really cool free app for history buffs called Cleveland Historical and began wondering what other free mobile apps I could find that would be helpful tools for Midwest travelers.

There are a lot of apps that cost a few bucks, and a lot of freebie apps are crowd-sourced crap, there are some real free gems out there!

I've written a number of short reviews of the apps I discovered here at Midwest Guest, but I was especially impressed with the number of free Ohio travel apps I found. The folks at the Ohio Tourism Division's Discovering Ohio blog recently published my list of top travel apps for the state that include apps for art museums, Ohio wines, amusement parks, zoos, historical sites and more.
