Try mixing up your own customized bath scrub or lotion at the Bath Junkie in Carmel, Indiana.
We recently visited this store in the Carmel City Center, where owner Melissa Farmer led us through the process of selecting our favorite scents from over 100 different oils to create our own customized bath products.

I loved the whole process of selecting my favorite scents, watching Melissa mix up the base for our bath scrub, mixing my scent selections to the salt-scrub base in a combination to my liking and adding my desired color to the mix.

The concept of creating customized products for customers and hosting in-store parties to help her customers create their own products as well fascinated Melissa when she visited a Bath Junkie store in another city.
Melissa's Carmel City Center store, opened in August of 2012, is in a mixed use development with one million square feet of space for planned retail, restaurants, office space and residences. Carmel City Center is also home to the Center for the Performing Arts (look for a story about the performing arts center in coming months).
The Carmel store is one of approximately 30 Bath Junkie franchises across the nation and the only outlet in Indiana, or the entire Midwest for that matter.
Bath Junkie offers a whole line of products, many of which are all-natural, and all of which are cruelty-free.
You can also keep Fido fresh and well fed with Bath Junkie's line of dog shampoos, colognes, treats and other products.
We joined Melissa for a Bath Junkie party with a small group of travel writers, although Tim, who was the only man in our group, wasn't so sure about participating in the whole process. The Bath Junkie bills their parties as a fun activity for a girls' night out, birthday party, baby or bridal showers, or a bachelorette party, so it's usually more of a girlie-girl activity.

Tim is always a good sport, though, and we persuaded him to join in the fun with the rest of our group.
He lived to tell the tale.

My preferred fragrance mix was a blend of lemon balm, pink grapefruit and green tea. Tim opted for one of the store's "manly scents" of a drakkar mix, which takes its name from a Viking long ship, an Italian power metal band or, appropriately enough, given our love of hockey, a junior hockey team according to Wiki!
The Bath Junkie at Carmel City Center is open 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday and noon until 5 p.m. on Sunday. Call 317-805-1850 or visit the store's Web site.

Thanks to the Thanks to the Hamilton County Convention and Visitors Bureau for sponsoring my visit to Hamilton County, providing lodging, meals and a tour of Hamilton County attractions for my review during my recent visit there, with no further compensation. I was free to express my own opinions about the stay and experiences, and the opinions expressed here are mine.
