So, I was in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for ArtPrize, the city's grand annual art festival and competition, and this is one of the things that caught my eye while I was wandering downtown to check out some of the ArtPrize entries.
I spotted these beautiful plants several places around downtown Grand Rapids, including the garden along the sidewalk in front of a restaurant named Leo's where I spotted these beauties.

Thanks to Tim's niece Emily, who helped me identify these plants as ornamental kale on Facebook. And, yes, it's edible!

Thanks to Debbie Dubrow of Delicious Baby for creating and coordinating Photo Friday to link travel photos and blog posts across the Web.

I've bought ornamental kale at my farmers market. It is really beautiful. However: when it starts to go bad, get it out of the house right away--it stinks!!

Wonder if it tastes as good as it looks? :)

These are gorgeous shots! The last macro shot is really lovely.

Sonja-don't know about the taste, but after Amy's comment, I'm not sure I want to smell it!
Thanks, Samuel. These were pretty much grab shots I took as I was walking along the street...but the plants were so pretty, I just had to take them.
