Check out some of these great Midwest-related stories I read online during this past month:
- Road trip: southwest Wisconsin-I love road trips, and this road trip through southwestern Wisconsin posted at Midwest Weekends sounds like a great one! We've traveled a bit in northern Wisconsin, but we've yet to spend much time in the southern part of the state. This trip looks like a great way to learn a bit about Wisconsin's mining history-plus there's a Gravity Hill there like one we've visited many times in northern Michigan.
- Milwaukee, WI: The Domes, Harley-Davidson, Kopp's & Organ Piper Pizza-Adam and his family stopped to explore Milwaukee, where they enjoyed seeing the Harley-Davidson Museum, visiting the Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory and sampling some of the local cuisine. Check it out at his Visit Flyover Country blog.
- Preserving History-Regular Midwest Guest readers may remember my stories about traveling along the Lincoln Highway in Indiana and Ohio. Here's news from further along the historic highway in Nebraska, where Sutherland, Nebraska progresses with efforts to restore a vintage service station along the Lincoln Highway Nebraska Scenic and Historic Byway. Check it out at the Nebraska Outback blog.
- Roadside Attraction: Field of Dreams Movie Site in Dyersville, Iowa-Julie and her family visit the legendary "Field of Dreams", which movie fans remember as a set for the baseball themed movie of the same name. Hit a few balls, run the bases or just stop by for quick snack along the road. Check out this free attraction at the Road Trips for Families blog.
- League Stadium Images from Huntingburg, Indiana-I linked to Jessica's previous story about this stadium, which served as a set for the 1997 movie called A League of Their Own (a movie about the 1940s era women's professional baseball league starring Tom Hanks, Geena Davis and Madonna). Jessica posted a few more images from the stadium this past month at her littleindiana blog.
- Friday Favorite: Circle Tower-Check out an Art Deco gem on Indianapolis' Monument Circle with Tiffany at the Historic Indianapolis blog. The Circle Tower is a beauty, a skyscraper built in the late 1920s with all of the Egyptian-inspired trim popular during those days and probably inspired by the discovery of King Tut's tomb earlier in that decade.
- Downtown Sandusky Offers More than Meets the Eye-Many people know Sandusky, Ohio best as home to the Cedar Point amusement park, but the town itself is a pretty interesting place. I love the old sandstone buildings there and wrote about Sandusky's impressive Carnegie Library here a few years ago, so I especially enjoyed Holly's take on the town at the Discovering Ohio blog.
- Beating the Heat at the Cleveland Aquarium-Cleveland opened its aquarium in January of this year, and visiting the aquarium may be one of the best ways to beat this summer's heat. Join Amanda at Clue into Cleveland for an up-close look at one of this northern Ohio city's newest attractions.
- Fish week: The Belle Isle Aquarium-Visitors to Detroit enjoyed that city's grand aquarium, until it closed in 2005, just over 100 years after its opening in 1904. Many Detroiters miss the old Belle Isle Aquarium, but they can take heart in renewed efforts to restore and reopen the venerable attraction. Amy shares that story with readers at The Night Train blog.

Great list! I'm going to check out that Wisconsin gravity hill. Also, good to know Field of Dreams is still open since it changed hands last year.
