Reading Jessie's recent guest posts about attractions in Sandusky, Ohio, reminded me of a story I did quite some time ago about another unique site in the Lake Erie-side city.
While many people may know Sandusky best as home to Kalahari Waterpark Resort and the Cedar Point Amusement Park, I stumbled across a drier and quieter location while visiting Sandusky--the city's beautiful Carnegie Library!
The library is one of Sandusky's more magnificent turn-of-the-century architectural gems, with a complex taking up the majority of a city block and encompassing the original Carnegie Library building and the late 1800s Erie County Jail connected to each other by an early 2000s architectural addition.
Check out Sandusky, Ohio, more than Cedar Point to read my original story about the library, its history and architecture.
Details like this turret at the library make these buildings look more like castles than everyday municipal buildings, don't you think?

As a fellow Ohioan, we need to remember to stop at the Sandusky Library on our next drive through the City. I love old architecture, especially when I can pretend to be a knight and win the hand of my wife in a mid-evil castle like setting. I promise not to disturb the library patrons though if you can calm the dragon.

The place certainly puts me in mind of a castle, too! Sounds like the perfect setting for your knight-and-fair-maid fantasy. I love how they managed to preserve the original library building, as well as the ornate jail building as well.
