Visit the Yellow Springs Farmers Market with Jessie Voigts
The Yellow Springs, Ohio, Farmer's Market is a joy to wander. Haven't been there? Let me fill you in...
Yellow Springs is located a few miles north of Xenia, and east of Dayton. It's a treasure trove of eclectic living - full of wonderful shops, excellent eateries, Antioch College, a fantastic library, and a vibrant community.
The Farmers Market runs from May 1st through October 31st, Saturdays 7:30am-noon. It's located behind Ye Olde Trail Tavern off the main street.
Park your car, grab your bags, and peruse away. Although it's only a parking lot long, it's full of treasures.
Honey (one of the best we've had), fresh vegetables, herbs, flowers, maple syrup, grains, eggs, meat, jam, and even a bunny for sale.
People stop and talk with friends and strangers. Kids run by, sucking on 25-cent honey sticks (strangely, the peppermint ones don't sell out). Smiles abound. And everywhere, you know that people will be eating well that day.
Organic, home-grown goodness, in a truly special small Midwestern town - we love going there every chance we get.
Afterwards, stop by the Winds Cafe and Bakery for a coffee and treat, to fortify yourselves before shopping (downtown, this time - pottery? international treasures?) again.

We used to live in Dayton, so we visited Yellow Springs several times. Although we never did make it to the farmer's market, we loved the Winds Cafe. I always ordered the tofu and brown rice. Delicious!

Sarah-
I've heard a lot of good things about the Yellow Springs Market, too. I love Farmers Markets, so this one goes on my list of places I want to be sure to check out :)
