Rochester, Michigan, becomes one of the brightest spots in metro Detroit on November 29 as 1.5 million LED lights blanket its downtown for the 2010 Big Bright Light Show.
I'm thankful that this year I learned about a special preview of the show. City officials turned on most of the lights for a few hours on Thanksgiving evening (and again this evening) to test them before the official start of the month-long light display.
We went last night in the pouring rain to check out preview, and I managed to capture a few images in spite of the weather.

Check out my earlier story, Where I live: Dazzling "Big Bright Light Show" shines again in Rochester, Michigan, for more about this year's display, plus a couple of photos and a short video clip from the 2009 Big Bright Light Show.

Awesome pictures. 1.5m lights - I would love to see that some day.

OH wow wow wow. My kid (and I) would get such a kick out of that! I love how the lights reflect in the rain. Beautiful.

Anna-They had 1 million lights last year, and it was pretty stunning. They've extended the light show to a few blocks off of Main Street this year. I'll be anxious to see the full show (the preview didn't include some of the special light shows, so it will be interesting to see if anything else is new when the official show starts this week).
Jackie-It was pretty in spite of the rain. I was pretty reluctant to actually get out and walk around a lot with my camera that night because of the heavy rain...but I still liked these images I managed to grab from the car :)

How cool! Actually, I think it's pretty neat how the wet pavement reflects the lights. Probably not the most pleasant night to be out, but you got some great pictures.

Sarah-It wasn't too pleasant...and it was wet enough I really was afraid to get out of the car with my good camera. These really were grab shots, but I thought a few of them were nice enough to share.
