I went on my first Photowalk last Sunday and thought I'd share a few photos I took around my home town that day.

The mission that day was to meet up with a dozen or so other folks to walk around town, make some images, and compare notes over a late lunch at the local brew pub. The mood was relaxed and encouraging as our crew included people of varying photography experience and cameras that included everything from point-and-shoots to high-end consumer or pro DSLR cameras. I even had my new Flip video cam in my pocket and shot a couple minutes of video (although I've got a way to go before I master shooting and editing video to post!).

The fun for me was meeting a lot of folks (some for the first time) that I'd "met" on Twitter and playing tourist in my hometown. Organizers Dave Peckens and Becks Davis already posted some nice accounts of our expedition, so I'll just take this opportunity to show off my hometown.

Thanks for joining us on the photo walk. I can't wait to do it again soon. I love the picture on the roof with the birds!

Fabulous photos! My favorite is the one with the bicycle. I imagine fall in the midwest is stunning.

My favorite photo is the door of the theater! You've given us a really fascinating way to look at it.
I feel a little jealous when I see the picture with the beautiful fall leaves. We don't really have autumn here in Texas, and I miss it!

Dave-I'm ready to go photowalking again! Probably best for Tim if it's after finals now....and I'm still pulling for the Zoo in winter, I got some great shots in the polar bear tunnel there last year.
Becks-I was trying to get a decent bird photo the whole afternoon...and that was the best of the lot.
Lora-Fall can be nice here, although I really like it when we can go to northern Michigan in early October...the colors are particularly nice there.
Sarah-I loved the textures on that door, too. We do have an autumn, but it's always too short here :)

I love the idea of the photowalk and that you all get together afterward to share.
My fave image is the door at the theater. Love the interesting perspective!

It's great to see your home town through different eyes once the camera comes out

Sounds like a description of a great day! "The mission that day was to meet up with a dozen or so other folks to walk around town, make some images, and compare notes over a late lunch at the local brew pub." Maybe we can get a #brewpub hashtag to trend on twitter and get more folks to enjoy a day like this! :)

A photo walk sounds like such a fun thing to do. And as always, I love your photos. My favorite one of these are the birds.

Beth-a couple of our Photowalk folks went on an earlier Photowalk that was one of a batch of them taking place around the country on a certain day. They had so much fun, they organized this one and set up the Flickr group for all of us.
Basically organized the whole thing on Twitter, took a head count that morning, and let the pub know how many of us would be there for lunch :)
Heather-It was a nice exercise in looking more closely at thing you usually ignore every day.
Lorraine-I'll bet #brewpub would draw a lot of Tweets
Gypsy-It was a fun day--great group of folks, and nice to meet some of them F2F after talking to them online for a while.
