Summer is a great time to stroll the Riverwalk and beach at Manistee, Michigan, but the northwestern Michigan waterfront cloaks itself in some amazing natural artistry as shifting sand, snow, ice, and water creates a muted palette of ephemeral patterns for adventurous winter visitors to enjoy.

The interplay of natural elements never ceases to fascinate me, so I'm offering a few more scenes from the winter wonderland I found one overcast winter day at Manistee along Lake Michigan.

Beautiful pictures. I almost forgot what snow looks like, since we don't get any in this part of Texas!
Brrrr...

Sarah-We don't get a lot of snow in the Detroit area, either. That's why I've been on a "winter Up North" cycle recently...enjoying a little virtual snow myself!

Amy-I loved the greenish color in that photo as well. Tim always wonders what I'm taking a photo of when I'm aiming my camera at the ground

Great stuff. You see so many travel pics of sun and sand that it's refreshing to see your things. Thanks.

Jessie-Lucky you with a cottage near the area. Our dream is to have a place up that way one of these eons.
David-Sun and sand can be fun, but I think the winterscapes have their own unique beauty. Glad you liked these photos :)
